The DIY Mindset in Music is Spreading.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic starting in 2020, the live music industry almost completely died altogether. For a year and a half, artists, industry professionals, and laborers all had to find answers, and when live music returned, smaller artists faced an even greater struggle trying to find profitable gigs with venues and promoters facing even greater expenses and risks.

In Denver, Colorado, independent artists, venues and collectives are embracing accessible spaces away from traditional industry practices. Concerts are being thrown in homes, warehouses, and abandoned buildings. In an era of live music demanding profit incentives more than ever, a Do-It-Yourself scene is emerging, promoting accessibility and community over profit.
